What happensPermalink
Proverbs 24 ranges across corrupt influence, adversity, counsel, danger, justice, enemies, testimony, planning, and work. Do not envy or join the wicked; build by wisdom, seek wise guidance, rise again after adversity, and rescue those being led toward death. Refuse revenge or delight in an enemy’s fall. The further sayings commend impartial judgment, honest testimony, careful preparation, and diligent labor.
Why it mattersPermalink
Wisdom remains steady under pressure. Choose counselors who strengthen sound judgment, and use your influence courageously for justice and rescue. Temporary success does not make wickedness worthy of envy. The righteous person’s “fall” in verse 16 refers primarily to adversity from which he rises. Judge fairly, prepare before acting, refuse retaliation, and learn from the ruin produced by neglect.
Key versePermalink
For by wise guidance you can wage your war, and in abundance of counselors there is victory.
