What happensPermalink

Jesus speaks many parables: the sower, the wheat and weeds, the mustard seed, the leaven, the hidden treasure, the pearl of great price, the fisherman’s net. He is rejected at Nazareth.

Why it mattersPermalink

Jesus begins to speak in parables so that those who are truly listening may understand the kingdom of heaven, but those who merely want to trap Him have no ground. This switch also fulfills Isaiah’s prophecy.

Key versePermalink

All these things Jesus said to the crowds in parables; indeed, he said nothing to them without a parable.

Matthew 13:34
