What happensPermalink

Jesus defends eating and healing on the Sabbath. The Pharisees accuse him of channeling Beelzebub, and He rebukes them. He prophesies His death and resurrection.

Why it mattersPermalink

Jesus upsets the order of everything the Pharisees know: Sabbath rules, miraculous healing, even family. So they accuse of Him of working for Beelzebub, and condemn themselves by their words.

Key versePermalink

“Of how much more value is a man than a sheep! So it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath.”

Matthew 12:12
