What happensPermalink

Hosea calls Israel to return to the Lord with words of repentance, renouncing Assyria, military power, and idols as sources of salvation. God promises to heal their apostasy, love them freely, and turn away His anger. He will be like dew to Israel, making them flourish like lilies, trees, grain, and vines; their fruitfulness will come from Him alone. Hosea closes by calling the wise to understand and walk in the Lord’s ways.

Why it mattersPermalink

Hosea ends with the restoration promised from the beginning. Israel is called to abandon its false gods and political powers and return to its true Savior. God answers rebellion with healing and freely given love, restoring the fruitfulness Israel once sought from Baal. The final verse addresses every reader: God’s ways are right, and wisdom means learning from Israel’s story to walk faithfully in them.
