They should rejoice in the light of life and the vigor of youth, while remembering that darkness will come, earthly pleasures are fleeting, and God will bring every life into judgment.

Because the future belongs to God, wisdom acts without demanding certainty. Spreading effort, practicing generosity, and working steadily acknowledge both risk and providence. Youth, strength, and opportunity are wonderful temporary gifts, meant to be enjoyed with gratitude and moral seriousness. Joy and judgment belong together: people should enjoy God’s gifts while remembering their accountability to Him.
