Wisdom looks beneath appearances. A clean manger may mean no productive ox, laughter may hide sorrow, and wealth may attract companions. Therefore test claims, consider your steps, govern anger and envy, tell the truth, and honor your Maker by caring for the poor. Personal character becomes social consequence: righteousness exalts an entire people, while sin brings disgrace.
