Isaiah pronounces oracles against Babylon, Edom, and Arabia. A terrifying vision of betrayal and destruction overwhelms him as Babylon feasts. As the watchman, Isaiah reports Babylon’s fall and shattered idols. From Edom comes the anxious question, “How much longer is the night?” He answers that morning comes, but night remains, and invites them to ask again. Finally, Arabian refugees flee through the desert, and Isaiah declares that Kedar’s military glory will end within a year.
