Welcome! Every day during Advent 2025, I’m sharing a short, warm, slightly nerdy reflection on a different Advent hymn. Think of it as a calm companion for the season—a few minutes each day to slow down, breathe, and remember what we’re waiting for.
Advent of Carols runs from November 30–December 24, with a bonus reflection on Christmas Day. Each episode is just long enough to walk you from the coffee pot to the couch, or however far you get before the day starts rushing in.

What You’ll Hear
Each day’s reflection—always under ten minutes—includes
- a short look at that day’s Advent hymn,
- a bit of history or theology, and
- a moment of stillness and hope.
Nothing fancy, just thoughtful reflections for a season that’s meant to slow us down.
Why Advent of Carols?
I’ve always loved the music of Advent: the longing, the minor keys, the sense that we’re reaching forward toward something good and bright and promised.
My hope is that these small daily pauses help you find a bit of peace, delight, or even curiosity as we trace the story of hope through some of the church’s most beautiful hymns (and a few surprises).
